Event description

Description

Explore the Wilder side of St Ives....
Join Professional foraging guide Josh Quick and learn how to harvest your own food, for free, from the hundreds of edible wild plants that surround us.

Wild foods have become increasingly popular in recent years and are used by some of the top restaurants and drinks producers in the world. There are some incredible ingredients out there hiding in plain sight and with the right knowledge you can begin to use them yourself and produce your own Wild food & drinks at home. Foraging is about so much more than just free food. Being able to harvest your own wild edible plants connects us to our local landscape, flora & the seasons in ways no other food can.

Perfect for beginners or more experienced foragers, the content of the course will be tailored to peoples experience and interests. The aim is to give people the skills and confidence to begin their own journey into the world of wild foods.

The Cornish coastline is home to many fascinating wild plants. We'll look at techniques to identify plants, legal issues, poisonous plants to avoid, sustainable harvesting techniques and uses of plants as food, drinks, fibres and much more.
There will also be some food and drink samples to try made from wild harvested ingredients.

Group sizes are limited to ensure a better teaching and learning environment.
Tickets are £25 for adults

Under 16's are free but must be accompanied by an Adult, please let us know if any under 16s are attending when booking .

Please dress appropriately for the ever changing Cornish weather! The course will run unless the weather is particuarly bad in which case full refunds will be issued

At Wild St Ives we aim to minimise any negative environmental impacts. This means minimising our resource and transport use. Using Wild harvested, homegrown or locally grown produce wherever possible. The Steeple nature reserve is a short walk from the town and five mimutes walk from the local bus route.
