About this event

I have a stiff body and I have been to yoga classes where people have giggled because I've struggled to get into a pose. I felt embarrassed and stupid and I wanted the earth to open and swallow me up. Then I found Yin Yoga.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slower form of yoga where you take your body to where it is just feeling tension and hold it there. The gentleness of Yin Yoga allows the body to relax and encourages the energy flow around the meridians. Because the poses are held the use of props like cushions and blocks can be used to support the body to further allow it to relax. Whist the poses are held you concentrate on your breathing which switches on the rest and relax function in your body.

Who is the class for ?

This class is for beginners who want a slower more meditative form of yoga that will help with tension and stiffness in their bodies. I will explain what Yin Yoga is and we will do poses that will stretch and relax the body. We will finish the class with a 5 minute meditation.

What do you need?

You will need

  • A yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Yoga Blocks (This could be some books tied together)
  • Blanket
  • Bolster or cushions
