What does the course cover?
Learners will explore the fundamentals of Youth Work Practice, covering four key areas:
Theories of youth work - principles and practice of informal education and how to apply this knowledge in practice
Young people’s development - theories of adolescent development and their implications for practitioners
Engagement and participation - strategies, models and techniques for engaging young people and active participation
Barriers to engagement - identifying reasons why young people may not engage and discovering how informal education and youth work can help to overcome these.

Coaches, volunteers, youth workers and project managers.
Course structure
Delivered by a qualified National Youth Agency tutor using group interaction and discussion.
Certification
Everyone completing the course will receive a certificate of attendance signed off by the National Youth Agency.
