Description

International opportunities for creative industries

If you’ve got a successful product that’s performing well in the home market - in textiles, jewellery, fashion or crafts - it’s worth exploring ways of selling it further afield.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise, in partnership with Emergents and Scottish Development International, is running a FREE two day workshop to explain how exporting works and prepare your business for selling overseas.

Who's it for?

This programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of creative industries that are thinking about exporting for the first time, or are in the very early stages of selling into international markets.

What’s in it for you and your business?

  • Broaden your knowledge and expertise in handling international business
  • Develop your export plans to ensure your business continues to grow
  • Listen to first-hand exporting experience from a guest speaker, and get 1-2-1 support with writing your own export plan

Key areas covered:

  • Market Analysis: Why export? Learn the importance of planning ahead, and what areas you need to cover in your export plan.
  • Market Entry: How to select key target markets and destinations, and the best way to approach them.
  • International finance, contracts and logistics: Learn more about the practical aspects of exporting, including basic legal issues such as protecting your intellectual property, shipping, and putting the right contract in place to get paid.

If you’re in a creative industry, and want to test the potential of selling to new overseas markets, this is an unmissable opportunity to get to grips with the world of exporting. It’s more straightforward than you might think - and once you get into the swing of it, will only need a slight adjustment to your existing business model!

We hope you’ll seize this chance to gain the knowledge, expertise and confidence to pursue international opportunities for your business and build on your success!

Each company is allowed a total of €200,000 in De Minimis Aid over a 3-year period (with a lower limit for fisheries and some other categories).
