Event description

Description

Under the banner of the Animal and Plant Health Agencies (APHA), RAPID life is a three-year EU Life funded project, aiming to deliver measures to reduce the impact and spead of IAS (Invasive Alien Species) in freshwater aquatic, riparian and coastal environments across England.

Rebecca Corrie-Close has been working for South Cumbria Rivers Trust as our Cumbria Freshwater Invasive Non-Native Species officer for over 10 years. This promises to be an informative and interactive biosecurity workshop, covering all aspects of freshwater biosecurity and invasive species control, including: cause, risk, transference and prevention.

The learning outcomes include;

  • Understanding the threat posed by invasive non-native species
  • Learn how biosecurity can be used as a method of preventative action against the spread of invasive species
  • Learn how to construct a biosecurity plan, taking into account site specific considerations

We hope to see you there.
