Health and Life Sciences Specialist Investor, Senior Advisor to Innovation Forum Council Member and Honorary Treasurer the New Technology in Medicine Council, the Royal Society of Medicine
Nick is a health and life sciences specialist in the UK who has held a range of leadership roles spanning across the sector. He started his career as a surgeon and has spent several years advising the Government in Whitehall. Nick was actively involved in the UK Government’s recent pro-market healthcare reforms. He has held a range of roles at the Department of Health with the Government’s the Strategy Unit and the Medical Directorate. Nick headed up the Secretariat for the National Medical Directors at the Department of Health, helping to translate best clinical evidence into workable policy and was an advisor to Sir Bruce Keogh, the NHS National Medical Director.
As well as his roles as an investor, Nick has held a wide range of senior positions in the sector as an advisor. He is a Chairman Emeritus of the Leadership Group, Member of the Council and an Honorary Treasurer of the New Technology in Medicine Section at the Royal Society of Medicine. He has been a Senior Advisor to Novartis AG, Senior Advisor to Bupa Plc. and 3i Plc.’s Global Private Equity practice.
Introduction to science and innovation-based entrepreneurship in Catalonia - Albert Barberà,
Director General - CEO at Biocat, BioRegion of Catalonia
Mr. Barberà is currently the director of Biocat, the governmental organization that coordinates and promotes life sciences sector in Catalonia. He has a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Mr. Barberà has held several positions in science management, first as the manager of the Institute of Health Carlos III Spanish Biomedical Research Centre in Diabetes and Associated Metabolic Disorders (CIBERDEM), later as scientific coordinator at IDIBAPS and, finally, as director of the IDIBGi. Over his career, he has obtained professional experience in both research and management of knowledge and innovation in the biomedical research environment and in health.

Marc Ramis - Serial Entrepreneur and co-founder and CEO of Senolytic Therapeutics
Marc is really interested in translational science and bio-entrepreneurship projects. Currently, He is the co-founder and CEO of Senolytic Therapeutics, a company that develops new medicines targeting senescence cells . Also, he is co-founder of Tech & Business Innovation (TBI), an academic unit focused on knowledge exchange and corporate-academic partnerships. Marc is a strategic advisor and board member for multiple organizations and a co-founder of several companies. Currently, Marc is also implementing a Entrepreneurs-in-Residence programs at the UPV, IDIBELL and IRB Barcelona. From 2010 to 2012, Marc was working for Isis Innovations/University of Oxford as an associate consultant in Spain and LATAM. From 2007 to 2011, Marc was working at Endor, a nanomedicine company based in Spain. During this period, he was R&D director (drug-delivery nanosystems for cancer therapy) and Business Development director (launched several nanotechnology products to the cosmetic and textile markets).

She has been Vice President Globat at Scaale Group for 5 years, a multinational group HQ in San Francisco (California) where I have lived for 4 years. Scaale is dedicated to help companies grow through capital, international sales and talent.
As Vice President at Scaale I have travelled over 150 days a year to India, China, Europe, Latam, USA and this allows me to have a global prespective on how to do business in different parts of the world and how to manage teams in remote. I have conducted job interviews to candidates in India, China, USA, UK and Spain.
Over the last 10 years I have seen over 4,000 executive summaries of companies raising capital from different countries.
I enjoy mentoring entrepreneurs and performing workshops and conferences. I have conducted over 200 conferences in 8 countries in the last 7 years. I have also participated in radio shows, and been interviwed in media in Spain, China and India.
Lluis Pareras - Director at HealthEquity SCR
Lluis has a PhD in Medicine and a Global Executive MBA (IESE). He has been director of Meditecnologia, and he leads the innovation and incubation program at COMB, investing in companies in the healthcare market. He was one of the founders of Medicina Television, a company where he has been general manager and board member for more than 4 years. Lluis is an author of numerous books in the field of innovation, technology, venture capital and healthcare. The last one being “Innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare”, published both in Spanish and in English internationally (US and Europe). He writes several columns about healthcare venture capital in economic journals. In the academic space, he is associate professor of several business schools where he teaches regularly about healthcare innovation and venture capital (IESE, ESADE, EADA, UPC ,...).
