Meet our Speakers

Richard Obahor (Host) is the CEO of Purple Premium Ltd, a U.K., Canada and Nigeria led Real Estate Company. His career in Real Estate first started in 2003 with Alandale Construction UK, where he worked as a Senior Manager on multi-million pound projects like the Bankside 123 in the City of London, Tower Place, and Westfield Shopping Centre in West London. He set up his first Real Estate Company in the U.K. in 2008, offering property acquisition, property development, and property management services to his ultra-high net worth clients. Soon after, he integrated into the African property market, catering for the demands of Nigerians based in the Diaspora whose intention is to own a home in Nigeria where they now develop quality luxury homes. His company also recently commenced property development in Canada.

The serial entrepreneur, who is also a notable public speaker, a writer and a business mentor, has garnered several skills and experience from reputable professional institutions. He has been celebrated with a number of very prestigious, industry leading awards including the BEFFTA 2016 Leadership award, the 2016 Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) awards for Excellence, the 2017 City People "Best Nigerian Real Estate Player in the Diaspora" award and was recently conferred with an Honorary Doctorate degree. Richard talks about investment opportunities within the UK, Canada and Nigeria Real Estate Sector.


Kola Aina, is an entrepreneur, creative, and angel investor. He is the Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Ventures Platform, a seed stage fund and accelerator.

Ventures Platform is an Africa focused fund that operates a leading startup accelerator, which offers a 16-week program, providing advisory, mentorship, back office support, seed-funding and need based residency to selected startups.

Prior to focusing on venture building, Kola worked in corporate finance, administration, corporate turn-around and strategy, having started off as a financial analyst with Fifth-Third Bank, after his MBA and initial training as an Electrical Engineer in the United States. Kola enjoys mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs, loves collaboration and is passionate about driving innovation. Kola serves on a number of company boards and actively mentors startups founders. Most recently he is a mentor on the XL Africa World Bank supported acceleration Program. He currently serves on the Presidential Committee on Job Creation, and speaks publicly as time permits. He is married with kids.

Dotun Olowoporoku is an entrepreneur, growth marketing consultant and angel investor. Dotun is a Managing Partner at Ventures Platform, a seed stage fund and accelerator. Ventures Platform is an Africa focused fund that operates a leading startup accelerator and early stage startup fund in Africa. Prior to joining Ventures Platform, Dotun is the Managing Partner at Starta, a platform that makes it easier to build, discover and track high growth businesses in Africa through startup education, data and growth consulting. He hosts Building the Future podcast which chronicles African growth narrative through one-on-one conversation with people that are using entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, and civic leadership to shape the African future.

Prior to Starta, Dotun founded Yhello(formerly meals.co.uk) an on-demand food delivery platform in the UK. He led the $1m fundraising that enabled the company to scale across 3 cities in the UK and facilitated strategic partnership with the Just-eat.co.uk. After that, Dotun joined Potential VC an early stage tech investment firm in the UK as a Venture Partner. He was responsible for sourcing and investing in early stage startups in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya.

Dotun was the recipient of 2014 Southwest England Breakthrough Business Prize, and has been identified as one of the 42 under 42 most influential business person in Southwest England. Dotun has a PhD in environmental management and worked as a Post-doc Research Fellow, but found it more interesting to be a startup pirate than join the academic navy.


Ayo Adeyinka

Ayo Adeyinka is a London-based art dealer who founded TAFETA in 2005. Since its founding, TAFETA has remained a leading purveyor of important 20th century artists of African descent, whilst constantly showcasing new contemporary talent. The gallery, located in Fitzrovia, London, continues to place works from established and emerging artists with important private collections, as well as established institutions such as the Smithsonian National Museum of African Arts in Washington, D.C.


Originally trained as an accountant, with a background in financial services, Mr Adeyinka has since gained recognition as a specialist in modern and contemporary African arts and continues to advise on several collections focused in this area.

Mr Adeyinka is a seasoned cultural entrepreneur, and has acted as consultant for key contemporary arts projects. He helped to launch Africa Now, Bonham’s contemporary African art sale in 2009, and has worked on other noteworthy gallery and curatorial projects.
Ayo understands the intricacies of art, especially as an investment opportunity and he shares a lot of information on this and more for the evening.
