About this event

Science & Tech • Science

As a leader in a children’s home or supported accommodation, you’re often expected to conduct investigations—whether it’s a complaint, HR matter such as a grievance or disciplinary action, or, most critically, safeguarding and child protection concerns. Given that these responsibilities fall under strict regulatory requirements, having the knowledge and skills to get them right is essential.

Yet, like many aspects of managing a children’s home, formal training on how to conduct thorough, fair, and compliant investigations is often lacking. Investigations need to be more than just a process; they must be structured, impartial, and legally sound, aligning with not only children’s home regulations but also employment law and best practices in HR.

This training is designed to: equip managers and senior staff with the practical skills and confidence to handle investigations professionally, ensuring a consistent and robust company approach. You’ll learn how to conduct fact-based, fair, and regulatory-compliant investigations that protect both the children in your care and your organisation. This is the training you need to ensure that every investigation you conduct meets the highest standards.

Your trainer: Amy Robinson, with 16 years of hands-on experience in children's residential care—working her way up from Support Worker to Responsible Individual (RI)—is dedicated to helping managers create exceptional, child-focused environments through her training programs and consultancy. Her deep understanding of regulatory expectations has made her a trusted source of guidance for both children’s homes and supported accommodation professionals. Her training sessions receive fantastic feedback, praised for their real-world practicality and engaging delivery.

Delivery - The virtual classroom is hosted on Zoom. Participants need access to a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a quiet and private space to join from, and to have made sure they can access Zoom.

A certificate will be provided.
