Event description

Description

What is “social investment” and how can it support improvements to long-term care for older people through new ways of funding and service development?

Social investment “involves strengthening people’s current and future capacities” and helping people to ‘prepare’ for life’s risks rather than simply repairing the consequences.

The SPRINT study is exploring how this could be applied to the provision of long-term care across Europe.

This workshop will discuss social investment, investment in long-term care and assessment of social investments in long-term care. This workshop will include speakers from the SPRINT study and external speakers on key issues on social investment and long-term care, as well as interactive discussion with all delegates.

Speakers include:

  • Adam Richards (Social Value UK)

  • Alan Glanz (LSE)

  • Alexandra Lopes (University of Porto)

  • Chris Fox (Manchester Metropolitan University)

  • Chris O’Leary (Manchester Metropolitan University)

  • Ismo Linnosmaa (The National Institute for Health and Welfare)

  • Jose-Luis Fernandez (LSE)

  • Tine Rostgaard (Danish Institute for Local and Regional Government Research)

  • Virginija Poskute ( ISM University of Management and Economics)

  • Further speakers are being finalised.
