About this event

This program is for executives who work on Corporate Venturing Teams, Business Units who work with CVC or start-ups, investors working with CVC. The programme is also very valuable for start-ups and tech ventures from universities wanting to raise investment and partner with corporate strategic investors.

This is a very interactive and active learning experience. We will learn about the passion of a start up and the investment by a strategic corporate investor. We follow the journey of the start up from funding to exit and the apporach of a leading corporate that has been investing for over 18 years. We watch a series of six video interviews with the founder and investor with Andrew Gaule and then discuss the key insights. The core content is based in over 20 years of Strategic Innovation and Venturing experience and frameworks published in Andrew's books.

(Other dates and tailored for corporates so do get in touch if you have any questions

Great Feedback from Aimava Case Study Workshops

“Andrew thank you for the excellent workshop that I attended, if only I had attended earlier on in my start up career, I could have avoided many of the pit falls that were highlighted in the workshop” Steve Founder of UK Venture. “Complete case with real life twists and turns” Stephanie in USA Consumer Co. - “Very good. Especially making me take different perspectives” Jon at Global Media Co. - “Excellent - good content, pace and discussion" Ben from Global Insurance Co. - “Put myself in the shoes of start-up company” Oscar based in China at Oil Co.

We are charging a small fee for this valuable to recover some costs and importantly to ensure that people that sign up attend.

We will have startups and experienced investors on the to share experiences and network.

The case follows Unilever Ventures and the investment in BrainJuicer, a digital venture. Throughout the program we contrast financial and strategic corporate investment. Key elements include

  • 5Ps of Corporate Venturing (Purpose, Process, People, Partners, Performance)
  • CVC Governance structures e.g. LLP
  • Founding of a start up
  • Investment and growth
  • Board dynamics with corporate investor
  • Challenges of corporate direction and selling to competitors
  • Scaling a venture
  • Route to exit

Participants will have a glossary of VC & CVC terms, access to over 100 interviews with CVCs, investors and start-ups. We also recommend ‘Purpose to Performance Innovative New Value Chains’ by Andrew Gaule available on Amazon, 5 Star Rated.

Benefits of the program include:

  • Key learning and experience of investment in a safe environment

  • Savings in poor investment decisions better working with start-ups and investors

  • Better skilled and motivated investment and business unit team

  • Improved start-up investment, better growth, more success and better valuations.

Much better than “Learning on the job” or “Learning from your mistakes”

This is program is very effective for teams in an organisation so book multi tickets or ask about an in-company program.

Andrew Gaule is an expert in the world of strategic innovation and corporate venturing.
