Event description

Description

Everybody plays video games, but the games industry and media don't always represent that; development studios, game publications, and major expos are dominated by men and can feel unfriendly to others, especially those just starting out. With that in mind, we started Invisible Wall, a series of events for women (trans inclusive) and gender minorities who want to work in this brilliant and fascinating medium.

Our next event is for those interested in becoming game journalists or video presenters. Teaming up with games industry body, UKIE, we’ve brought together several people who already work in these areas to talk about their jobs and experiences:

Julia Hardy: TV and Radio One presenter
Alysia Judge: writer and presenter, IGN
Ash Cosplay: streamer and presenter
Alice Bell: editor, VideoGamer
Laura Kate Dale: journalist, Kotaku
Lydia Ellery: YouTuber and presenter on Xbox On
Chella Ramanan: freelance writer and developer
Ellen Rose: presenter, Outside Xbox

Each speaker will chat a little about what their job entails, then we’ll have discussion panels and audience Q&A, followed by drinks and snacks and some friendly #networking.

We are also inviting attendees with commissioning power - so it will be a great opportunity to meet people with the ability to pay you for your work. They’re all lovely, too.

If you have a carer, or would like to bring a supportive friend, we're happy to provide free tickets for those people – just let us know.

If you have any questions, please contact the organiser, Jordan Erica Webber @jawsew
