Invisible Wall: Games Writing for Women
Event Information
Description
Everybody plays video games, but the games industry and media don't always represent that; development studios, game publications, and major expos are dominated by men and can feel unfriendly to others, especially those just starting out.
With that in mind, Invisible Wall is an event for women (trans inclusive) and gender minorities who want to work in this brilliant and fascinating medium, whether that’s as a journalist, critic or developer. We’ve brought together several women who already work in games writing to talk about their jobs and experiences: Keza MacDonald, UK editor of gaming site Kotaku; Meg Jayanth, writer of award-winning narrative adventure 80 Days; Philippa Warr, journalist at Rock, Paper, Shotgun; and Olivia Wood, editor at Failbetter Games.
Each speaker will chat a little about what their job entails, then we’ll have a panel with Q&A, followed by food and drinks and some friendly #networking.
We are also inviting attendees with hiring power in both development and media - so it will be a great opportunity to meet people with the ability to pay you for your work. They’re all lovely, too.
If you have a carer, or would like to bring a supportive friend, we're happy to provide free tickets for those people – just let us know.
