Event description

Description

On 31 October, the 500th anniversary of the event, Luther’s 95 Theses will be celebrated in a unique multi-sensory evening of art.

Featuring beer-tasting and an exhibition of new artworks inspired by the anniversary, the evening includes a world premiere of Invitation to Debate, a musical setting of the Theses by Thomas Chevis.

Hosted by Christian Heritage London in the heart of the City of London, the setting is St Mary Woolnoth, the church building that was served by John Newton, composer of Amazing Grace, whose life was radically changed by the gospel of the Reformation. It was here that he inspired William Wilberforce to use his platform in Parliament to bring about righteousness - a conversation that resulted in the abolition of the slave trade.

7.30-8.15 – art exhibition

8.15-8.30 – talk by Thomas Chevis

8.30-8.50 – musical performance

8.50-9.30 – beer tasting
