Invitation to the opening of our new clinical research facility
Date: Tuesday 28th February
Time: 2pm – 3.30pm
Location: 6 Newcomen Street, London, SE1 1YR
We are delighted to invite you to the official opening of our new clinical research facility in central London to showcase our enhanced capabilities in delivering world-leading, early-phase clinical trials.
We can confirm that we have managed to secure four key speakers:
- Sarah Haywood, Chief Executive, MedCity UK
MedCity is a collaboration between the Mayor of London and Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre, King’s Health Partners, and UCL Partners.
- Neil Coyle, MP for Southwark
As the local MP, Neil celebrates Richmond bringing significant business to the local area, life sciences sector and London more generally.
- Professor John Camm, Professor of Cardiology, St Bartholomew’s
Professor Camm sits on Richmond’s Board and holds numerous fellowships, a Gold Medal from the European Society of Cardiology and the Mackenzie Medal of the British Cardiovascular Society.
- Dr Martin O’Kane, Head of Clinical Trials, MHRA
The MHRA provides scientific and regulatory advice and is recognised globally as an authority in its field.
The WorshipfulMayor of Southwark, Cllr Kath Whittam, will officially open the new site, welcome Richmond to the borough, and celebrate their contribution to the local area and life sciences sector. We are confident these guests will showcase our enhanced capabilities in delivering world-leading, early-phase clinical trials.
Our new facility’s premises have been used to conduct clinical trials for over 30 years. The closure last year of the Quintiles Drug Research Unit (formerly known as the Guy’s Drug Research Unit) at 6 Newcomen Street offered Richmond Pharmacology the opportunity to expand our footprint to a new location by the campus of Guy’s Hospital and Kings College London, next to London Bridge station. Our new research facility is designed to match the needs and expectations of innovative sponsors, using our well established and efficient working practices. We will continue to conduct our cutting edge clinical research at our new facility, thus maintaining and enhancing Richmond’s reputation as a centre of scientific and clinical excellence.
Our new site offers state-of-the-art premises with excellent transport links and accommodation nearby. It adds to our base at St. George’s where we have been since our foundation in 2001. Our new facility at London Bridge is the fourth clinical research unit we will have designed and operated, and its blueprint is the result of 15 years expertise in running early phase clinical research.
The opening event will bring together stakeholders from industry, regulatory agencies, local and national government, healthcare and the life sciences, and will be a unique opportunity to network and to learn more about Richmond and our plans for continuing to make a major contribution to the UK’s life sciences sector.
We hope that you will be able to attend our exclusive networking event directly after the opening of this new clinical research facility.
