Would you like to diversify your volunteer base? Bring in new ideas and skills? Increase your supporters, advocates and fundraisers locally?
This workshop offers practical advice on how you can be more inclusive and involve volunteers with physical and sensory impairments in key roles within your organisation.
We will explore the barriers to involving volunteers with a physical or sensory impairment and how you can overcome them. We will provide practical advice, opportunities for discussion with voluntary sector colleagues and hands on exercises based on your organisation.
We will look at how to engage other staff members and volunteers with your ideas and how to prepare them for working or volunteering alongside a volunteer with a physical or sensory impairment to ensure inclusivity, equality and diversity is embedded at the heart of your organisation.
We will also have an "Ask the Expert" session giving you the chance to learn from someone working in the field.
At the end of the course you will:
- Feel more confident in identifying roles to suit volunteers with different physical or sensory impairments.
- Be able to advocate the benefits of involving a volunteer with a physical or sensory impairment in order to engage other staff, trustees and volunteers.
- Understand how you can develop or adapt tasks to suit your volunteer’s abilities.
- Know where to go for additional support in involving volunteers with a physical or sensory impairment.
You will leave with some practical solutions which you can implement immediately on your return to work.
This training is suitable for anyone who has responsibility for recruiting or managing volunteers.
Past course participants on our ‘Involving…’ training series said: “So much I didn’t know” and “A great platform for learning and networking”
