Description

General Data Protection Regulation
(or GDPR to you and me)

We’ve been hearing a lot about this in recent months. But what's it all about? And what does it mean for Internal Communications folk?

GDPR is a pan-European regulation which has been created to protect EU citizens’ personal data. When it comes into effect, it will replace current Data Protection legislation. Nicola Flannery, a Senior Manager with Deloitte who specialises in Data Protection & Privacy, will bring us through the key aspects of this new legislation that launches across Europe at the end of May.

As internal comms people, this really is ‘need to know’ stuff. If you hold personal data – including employee email addresses on mailing lists – your legal data protection obligations are changing.

We’ll cover all you need to know, and hopefully a little more. We’ll explore the new requirements under the GDPR that you need to consider (and when), the rights of data subjects that you’re collecting, processing and storing personal data on; as well as take a look at the new breach notification requirements.

And there’ll be the usual opportunity to ask questions and talk to other IC colleagues.

This is the first of a number of events and training sessions we plan to run in 2018.

Date and time – 20th February 2018, 5.30pm (for a 6pm start) ‘til 8.00

Location – Deloitte, 29 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2

Speaker – Nicola Flannery, Senior Manager with Deloitte, a specialist in Data Protection & Privacy
