Event description

Description

The 23rd Biannual International Plant Resistance to Insects Symposium will be held at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom on the 7th – 9th of March 2018.

Plant resistance to insects and other arthropods is gaining prominence, especially in terms of sustainable agriculture, and underpinning this is of course fundamental science and understanding of the mechanisms and processes involved. The scientific sessions of the symposium will reflect all aspects of host-plant resistance, with traditional talks as well as flash presentations, discussion and poster sessions:

1. Novel methodologies for assessing plant and pest phenotypes in field and laboratory

2. Plant resistance in model and crop systems – underlying mechanisms

3. Emerging challenges in insect-plant resistance management

4. Insect responses and resilience against plant based control options

5. Plant breeding for insect resistance and genetics analyses

The Symposium will be held in a new conference facility at Rothamsted Research, an agricultural research centre just north of London, England, which is easily accessible from any London airport.
