Please join us for our IREd seminar, 'What students and staff make of the targets set for KS4 from the KS2 assessments', on Thursday 16th May from 1pm until 2.30pm in P1.13, Bedford campus. This seminar will be given by Heather Cunliffe.

This is a case study examination of the views, attitudes and motivation of students and staff in one secondary school alongside the views of a selection of year 6 teachers across the country. The study follows some students through from year 7 to 8 and others from year 10 to 11, and some of the conclusions are perhaps surprising. This study is unique in that it has been able to look at SATs pre-pandemic and also KS2 assessments without SATs, such that the initial views in the pilot study were not tainted by the impact of the pandemic. Post pandemic, it has now been possible to compare and contrast SATs with other KS2 assessments and how valid and reliable they are in their link to KS4 targets set as a result.
