Event description
A year celebrating the great composer and featuring performances of the Ninth Symphony

About this Event

2020 will mark the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth and led by their Musical Director Brian MacKay, Irish Doctors Choir will host a series of workshops exploring this great composer's influence on choral music. The climax of this 'Beethoven Year' will be a trip to the Portugese island of Madeira to sing in two performances of the great Ninth Symphony.

Essential details about this wonderful opportunity can be found by visiting the IDC choir members' page. A specialist choir tour company will be looking after arrangements for our transport and accommodation so please sign up as soon as possible.

If you are a member, your best option is to complete a single registration* for the entire event. This presumes that you intend to sing in Madeira and it also gives you the option to attend any or all of the Beethoven Year workshops at no additional charge.

If you are a member but you wish to apply for one or more Beethoven events without committing to Madeira, you can pre-register now for your chosen workshop(s). The non-refundable charge per workshop will be €20. We plan to invite non-members to attend our workshops for a fee of €30 per workshop and tickets for this will be made available to the public early in 2020. Our October weekend will be a rehearsal and therefore for Madeira singers only.

The diary dates for Beethoven Year are as follows

Workshop 1 Dublin 29.2.2020

Workshop 2 Belfast 25.4.2020

Workshop 3 Dublin 12.9.2020

Rehearsal Weekend Belfast 23-25 October
