Calligraphy and Lettering Workshop with Mickey
This is a workshop designed for 18-25 year olds only.
Join us on Tuesday 3rd September, 5:15–6:45pm for a hands-on introduction to brush calligraphy led by artist Mickey. This workshop will guide you through the foundations of brush control, shape-making, and the art of intentional mark-making—drawing on traditions of both brush and Chinese calligraphy.
Using a set of brushes, coloured inks, and practice worksheets, you’ll learn how to hold the brush, build confidence through tracing and line exercises, and explore how every stroke carries weight, meaning, and permanence. Participants will move from practicing simple shapes to creating expressive letters and messages of the Connect the Buds mission.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity. Whether you’re an artist, creative, or complete beginner, this session offers the chance to slow down, experiment, and connect with writing as both craft and expression. All materials are provided.
There will be light refreshment served throughout the session.
