Description

We invite you to explore the Iron Age Hill Fort - home of the Celtic tribe known as Silures.

Your Friends of Margam Park guide will take you on a journey through the history of the Hill Fort. A site of special significance during the Silures battles with the Roman Army from 48AD - 70AD.


Discover

  • The landmarks of ditch, bank and defence


  • The history of this site and recent research


  • The way of life of the Celtic tribe who fought off the Roman Army for many years


  • The outstanding views from their isolated village


The Walk

  • Meet at 1pm - at the Friends room next to the Courtyard Cafe

  • This is a walk for moderatly fit people. It is a gradient that may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties or small children (<5yrs)

  • Please bring water and suitable clothing / footwear (no sandals, flip flops or open toes)

  • In hot weather bring sun screen and / or hats


Meet your guide at the Friends of Margam Park office next to the Courtyard Cafe. All Friends of Margam Park walks and tours are led by approved guides.

The guided walk is free of charge. Car Parking charges apply for entry to Margam Country Park
