Is CO2  the future for domestic hot water heat pumps in the UK?

Speakers: David Butler MInstR and Alan Abela

Organiser - Institute of Refrigeration

Alexander Twining proposed CO2 as a refrigerant in his 1850 British patent and it became the refrigerant of choice for many applications before being ousted by CFCs and HCFCs. It is now an important alternative for the replacement of environmentally harmful refrigerants, and CO2 hot water heat pumps are extremely popular on the Japanese market. This paper examines the technical and economic viability of CODHW heat pumps on the UK market.
