Is Digital Inclusion binary and really for all? Can we handle two truths?

Is Digital Inclusion binary and really for all? Can we handle two truths?

Digital inclusion isn’t binary. While we aim to leave no one behind, we must also plan for those who cannot or choose not to be online.

SYNOPSIS

The BCS aims to address the digital divide by “Leaving no one digitally behind”.

While it is a great purpose, this narrative doesn’t reflect the full picture. Some individuals cannot, or choose not to, engage with digital technologies due to disability, circumstance, or personal preference.

The WCIT champions this reality that the tech sector and society must not ignore. This webinar explores the dual realities of digital inclusion: expanding access and skills while also designing respectful, sustainable alternatives for those left outside the digital sphere. Inclusion isn’t binary, and neither are the solutions.

Join us as we unpack what true inclusivity looks like in a digital-first world and how services, policies, and communities can respond more holistically to truly leave no one behind.
