About this event

Spirituality • Christianity

As a relational theologian, Colin Barnes believes that everything God does, all his plans and workings, are relational. Scripture comes alive when we stop reading it as a rulebook and, instead, ask, "Why might God act that way, or say that to those people, at that time?" It reveals the heart of God which is not so much interested in communicating eternal truth as taking his children on a journey into maturity.

Colin is excited to meet with the Transforming Shame Network, as the story of Eden becomes a far more helpful story when we see it through the. lens of shame than through one of sin and judgement. If we allow it, it might reshape our gospel and enable us to communicate effectively to 21st century Western culture that, whilst admiring Christian ethics, has, you could argue, rejected the Christian story.
