While women in the UK live longer than men, we’ve earned the ‘award’ as the country with the largest gender health gap in the G20.[1] When compared to their male counterparts, women spend more time in their lives living with illness and disability.[2] The trajectory of their health looks very different to men’s in the UK – and that’s without the added layer of the equity gap. When it comes to reproductive health, we know that women experience complications during pregnancy, endometriosis, fibroids and menopause, and are impacted by the gender pain bias.
While there has been increasing discussion about women’s reproductive health, have we seen words turn into action? Join us as we host a panel discussion that asks what it will take for us to take women’s reproductive health seriously, considers what a healthcare system which closes the gaps could look like, and how the NHS model in the UK could take steps to get there.
