Speakers Include:

Andy Ryder, Corporate Finance Partner at Shorts - Andy has over 15 year’s Corporate Finance experience, principally gained at national firms PKF and subsequently BDO. He has advised on numerous transactions across a range of sectors and deal sizes from <£1m up to £50m. He has experience of raising debt, equity and mezzanine finance and has also undertaken a large number of due diligence assignments for funders.


Jonathan Earl, Investor at Business Growth Fund - Jon joined BGF in June 2013 and is based in Birmingham. He is responsible for identifying and completing new investments and working closely with the Boards of these companies to help support their growth plans.

Jon has 10 years’ experience of investing in SMEs. Prior to joining BGF, his investment experience was gained at Catapult Ventures where he completed over 30 investments across a broad range of stages and sectors. He was also actively involved in the management of the portfolio and led several highly profitable exits. In his earlier career he worked at KPMG in the Midlands, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and at Lloyds Pharmacy.

Jon is a graduate of Durham University with a BSc (Hons) in Geography. He lives in the East Midlands and he and his wife are kept very busy by their two young children. This leaves Jon less time to pursue his sporting interests though he still manages the occasional round of golf, skiing trip and Leicester Tigers / Leicester City match.


Paul Green, Commercial Business Development Manager at RBS Invoice Finance- Paul has 10 year’s Commerical banking experience, principally gained at HSBC before moving to RBS in 2015. Paul currently supports SME’s with a turnover between £2m-£30m. He has experience of assisting on Acquisitions, MBO’s as well as improving businesses day to day cash flow.


Paul Wheelwright, Natwest International Trade Manager- Paul is the NatWest Banks International Trade Manager for Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

His day to day role has him working alongside the Banks Relationship Managers to support existing and prospect clients across a wide range of Industry sectors achieve their Domestic and International trading ambitions and hold a Certificate in Trade Advisory issued by the Institute of Export which is an Industry recognised qualification.


Peter Sorsby, Investment Manager at Enterprise Ventures Group Limited - Pete joined Enterprise Ventures in early 2017, specifically to help deliver the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (Debt) into the Sheffield City Region, where he had previously spent a 28-year career in banking, the majority of this in the business and commercial segments of the SME sector.


Will Clark, Investment Director at Enterprise Ventures Group Limited - Will was previously a Director with 3i, based in the North West with responsibility for a £500million portfolio of investments across the UK. The earlier part of his career was spent with Ernst & Young as a member of its corporate finance team in Liverpool and Manchester. Will has been working with growth and venture capital-backed companies in the North West region since 1989 and in that time has been involved in more than 100 transactions.
