Event description

Description

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) aims to provide harmonisation of the data protection regulations throughout the EU, thus simplifying the regulatory environment for international business.

Consequently, changes to the governance of data will have far-reaching consequences for your business. The GDPR will govern how your company does business, and particularly how it manages, protects and administers data in the future. Changes come into effect on the 25 May 2018, and organisations are being advised to start preparing now.

Invest Newcastle, in partnership with Ward Hadaway, are hosting an event for those keen to understand more about what the data protection reforms mean for their business, and most importantly, how to prepare for the upcoming changes.

The event will be delivered in two independent sessions (morning and afternoon) on Tuesday 28 November, covering the understanding of GDPR implications along with information on breaches and fines, data protection principles, lawful processing of data and practical steps for companies. Attendees will hear from Ward Hadaway’s, Dean Murray (Partner) and Christopher Bowen (Solicitor), both specialists in data protection law. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions at the end of each session.

If you’d be keen to join us, please register your interest here and select your preferred session by 1 November. I’d be more than happy to have a chat on the phone if you have any questions in the meantime.
