This interactive workshop aims to draw greater attention to the often-overlooked role of minority entrepreneurs and businesses in creating social change, both in positive and negative ways. It is a collaborative product of the ISBE Minority Entrepreneurship SIG and the ECSB Social Change SIG.

The workshop will connect you with a diverse and engaged scholarly community focused on minority entrepreneurship (gender, ethnicity, religion, race, disability, refugee, etc.). We aim to enrich academic discourse on social change and ultimately help shape a more inclusive, equitable, and socially aware entrepreneurial landscape.

Are you researching entrepreneurship through the lens of marginalized identities? Are you interested in exploring how entrepreneurship contributes not just to economic outcomes but to deep social transformation? Join us for this dynamic, interdisciplinary workshop, which brings together academics across career stages and disciplines to explore the transformative role of minority entrepreneurs in reshaping economies, communities, and institutions.

Workshop Objectives:

- Raising awareness of underrepresented entrepreneurial experiences,

- Sharing knowledge and innovative methods that reveal hidden dynamics,

- Fostering collaboration among researchers across disciplines,

- Building capacity for inclusive and impactful research.

What to Expect:

· Lightning Talks by Prof. Dr. Sukanlaya Sawang, Prof. Dr. Natalia Vershinina, Dr. Sophie Alkhaled, and Dr. Deema Refai on minority entrepreneurship and social change

· World Café Discussions to unpack challenges, frameworks, and methods

· Collaborative Sprint to design research ideas with social change at their core

· Networking to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and explore future SIG and funding opportunities

· Reflections and Next Steps to commit to actionable change in your research (We hope to create opportunities for future engagement, ie; special issues).

The workshop is FREE for the members of ISBE and/or ECSB; however, it costs £20 for non-members.

  • If you are a non-member, please complete the registration form for non-members and make payment here.
