The focus of this session will be Cyber Security and DDoS Threat Mitigation
1. (ISC)2 Yorkshire Chapter Update
2. Insights from PwC’s Global State of Information Security Survey
PwC’s cyber security practice in the North will present key findings and insights from PwC’s Global State of Information Security® Survey 2017. We have surveyed over 10,000 CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CISOs, IT managers and business leaders – the first of four waves of our findings was published in October 2016 and indicate that Cyber security remains a business issue for the whole organisation, an issue for the Board and is also becoming as much about fixing the way organisations use technology as it is about fixing the technology itself. We will give some practical advice on where to focus investment in a more fit for purpose control environment to help manage the cyber security risks we all face.
Paul Brady, Lead of PwC Cyber Security team in the North
3. DDos Threat Mitigation
PwC will present on the topic of DDoS mitigation. Denial of Service attacks have increased in frequency and severity in recent years, with a major attack in the US in October 2016 taking down DYN/DNS, the backbone of the internet, making Twitter, Amazon and PayPal unavailable to web users for an extended period. PwC will talk about the escalating threat, different types of DDoS attack, the threat from the Internet of Things and the facets of a DDoS threat mitigation strategy that organisations should consider.
