Integrated Skills in English – an English language test for the 21st century

English language testing sits between a range of areas and responsibilities in UK institutions – compliance, admissions and English language centres, to name but three. Establishing a candidate’s English language proficiency is, without doubt, important for quality assurance and compliance reasons. However, throughout this process, what consideration is given to the applicant and future student? With reference to the ISE test, we will reflect on the extent to which the student is considered in this journey – namely:

- Why is a choice of test important to students and universities?
- What impact do higher education institutions have on test selection, and to what extent do they determine how students develop their English language skills?
- How does ISE differ from traditional high stakes tests?
- What levels of ISE should universities require for pre-degree and degree level courses?

The ISE test is:

• Accepted as an English language test under the Interim List of Eligible Programmes for Student Immigration Permission (ILEP)
• Accepted by 95% of UK universities and 100% of Irish universities (the latter under the agreed entry requirements criteria for EU/EEA Applicants)
• Available for candidates to take across 60+ countries
• Offered at more than 3,000 Trinity registered centres

This webinar is suitable for university staff involved in: English language provision, language assessment, admissions, registration, policy, international education.
