Event description

Description

Faced with managing contracts and teams across borders, it is often not just the language or cultural differences that prove a challenge, but also the diverse understanding and maturity of what facilities management actually is and does.

The development of the ISO 41000 series of standards is a welcome development for clearly articulating vocabulary for a common language, setting out guidance regarding agreement frameworks as well as documenting aspects such as service level agreement, key performance indicator, and transparency between the service provider and the demand organisation. This will enhance the end result, the understanding within those demand organisations as well as enable FM, as an ever growing and developing sector worldwide, to provide a consistent and professional approach to working cross borders and delivering consistency of stakeholder experience, service delivery performance and ‘added value’ to those that we serve.

Stan Mitchell, CEO of Key Facilities Management International and a past Chair of BIFM, has been spear-heading the committee that is developing the standards. He will not only give an overview of the standards developed to date, but profile the Management System Standard due to be published in 2018 and the potential impact that it will have for the sector. T

his update will give you an up to date insight regarding what has been done to date and what is planned for the future. It will also offer an opportunity to engage in defining the road map going forward for this ISO Committee. Operationally these standards offer a real opportunity for organisations, that have not yet realised the benefits of professionally managing their facilities, to work through the potential benefits for their organisation with consistency and precision no matter where in the world they are located. We are delighted that Stan has taken time out of his busy schedule to share what is one of the most significant developments for driving consistency in FM.

We would like to thank Kinnarps for hosting this event.
