Speaker: Stephen Pihlaja

Title: ‘How technology influences what we believe’

Stephen Pihlaja is Reader in Stylistics at Newman University Birmingham. Originally from Chicago, he has lived and taught in the UK, Japan, and Malaysia for the last fifteen years. His research tries to explain how people present themselves and their beliefs to diverse audiences. His book new book Religious Talk Online: the evangelical discourse of Muslims, Christians, and atheists (Cambridge University Press) looks at the role of social media in inter-religious dialogue.
