This Autumn, our special lectures will be given by Robert Scott.

You are invited to join our seminary students this November for a week of lectures that aim to:

  • Introduce the students to the main teachings of Islam;
  • Provide them with tools for continuing and deepening their knowledge of Islam;
  • Evaluate Islamic beliefs in the light of biblical revelation;
  • Understand differing Christian approaches to Islam and their respective merits;
  • Lead to understanding of points of contact for Gospel presentation;
  • Enable students (and those they teach in future) to present the Gospel to Muslim people.

The lectures are intended for pastors and those preparing for ministry, but others may be interested to join us.


The Topics for each day :

Tuesday: An Introduction

  • Morning Sessions 1&2: Introduction to Isalm and Muslim People
  • Afternoon Session: Introduciton to Muhammad and Histories

Wednesday:

  • Morning Session 1: A Response to Muhammad
  • Morning Session 2: Introduction to the Qur'an (part 1)

Thursday: The Qur'an

  • Morning Session 1: Introduction to the Qur'an (part 2)
  • Morning Session 2: A Response to the Qur'an
  • Afternoon Session: Modern Mission Approaches

Friday:

  • Morning Sesssions 1&2: Introduction to Muslim People and Their Questions


About the lecturer:

Robert Scott helps to lead a new Sylheti- and English-speaking church in East London, as well as lecturing on Islamic Studies at Oak Hill Theological College. He is married with 3 nearly-grown-up children, and enjoys plodding around the Mile End Park Run of a Saturday and sometimes swimming in London's docks, along with reading most things by Tom Holland and Robert Harris.

The format of the days will go as follows (*Wednesday & Friday end after lunch):

  • 9:45 am - Tea/Coffee
  • 10:00 am – arrival
  • 10:20 am – 1:00 pm (lectures with a break)
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (lunch*)
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm* ( lectures with a break)

Cost:

  • £42.50 - Full Days (lunch included)
  • £42.50 - Full Days (Online)
  • £25.00 - 1/2 days (lunch included)
  • £25.00 - 1/2 days (Online)
  • £100.00 - all four days
