Islay Malt Whisky Masterclass - 6.30pm Session - Islay Whisky Festival
Wed 31 May 2017, 18:30 – 20:30 BST
We are delighted to be hosting Islay Single Malt Whisky Masterclasses at The Gaelic College in Bowmore during the magical Islay Whisky Festival week in May 2017.
My name is David Wood and I am lucky enough to have been Distillery Manager at the largest distillery on Islay, the Iconic Caol Ila Distillery. I have been a whisky enthusiast for many years, and before I moved to Islay, my favourite whisky was always Caol Ila, so to become manager of the distillery was a dream come true.
A few months ago I started my own business, Distilled Events, we host whisky events and tastings and this is what brings me to Islay during the festival week.
During our masterclasses we will be showing awesome whiskies from some incredible independent bottlers, drams from different distilleries across Islay. The majority of the whiskies that guests will taste are single cask, cask strength drams. We will be showing a 26 year old single cask Caol Ila and a 23 year old Bunnahabhain amongst the line up. Tickets are only £26 plus a small booking fee, we think you will agree this is a bargain when you consider the set list.
I have no links to any distillers so my tastings are as unbiased as can be, therefore this event is perfect for those who are interested in hearing a frank seminar about the whiskies of Islay, where what is most important is the whisky in the glass, what it tastes like, and whether you enjoy it. Whether it is your first time at the Islay Whisky Festival, or a frequent visitor, whether your a seasoned whisky enthusiast or a newcomer to the world of malt, you'll enjoy our Islay Single Malt Whisky Masterclass!
I am hosting two sessions of the masterclass on Wednesday 31st May. One is at 2.30pm and the other at 6.30pm. If you buy tickets here it is for the 6.30pm session so please ensure you have clicked on the correct event.
I look forward to seeing you on Islay!
