Islay Single Malt Whisky Masterclass - Picture House Social, Sheffield
Fri 24 March 2017, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
Join us for our exclusive Islay Single Malt Whisky Masterclass at Picture House Social in Sheffield!
Your host for this fun and informative event will be hosted by Islay distiller, independent bottler and severe whisky enthusiast, David Wood. A number of years ago, David's passion for whisky led him and his family to pack up their belongings and move to the Hebridean Isle of Islay. After managing the vistor experience at the iconic Lagavulin Distillery, David soon found himself as Distillery Manager at the largest of the Islay distilleries, the giant that is Caol Ila. During the evening you will hear about what it is like to manage a distillery that produces 6.5 million ltrs of new make spirit per annum, and what it is like to live and work in such a remote location.
When we think of Islay, we often think of peaty whisky, and that is certainly true, some of the worlds peatiest drams come from Islay, but there is also a lot of unpeated spirit made on Islay too. During the evening you will taste a range of whiskies that are both peated and unpeated in character while David explains how these truly great whiskies become so complex in character.
This event is perfect for the newcomer to world of whisky as well as the seasoned enthusiasts. Tickets are extremely limited for this event so please book early to avoid disappointment.
