Description

Islington has a strong and well established LGBT+ community, with a long history of campaigning.

This guided walk is offered by Clerkenwell and Islington's Tour Guide Association (CIGA) in partnership with Islington Heritage and funded by Islington's Pride, an heritage lottery fund funded LGBT+archive project. The walk is part of Islington's celebration of LGBT History Month.

Starting at Angel tube station and ending at Highbury Fields the walk includes Islington's significant LGBT "firsts" such as the UK's first gay mayor, MP, march and demonstration as well local characters such as Joe Orton and the extraordinary Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

This walk is free oif charge but booking is essential.
