About this event

Business • Real Estate

We're delighed to be given the opportunity to have a guided tour of Kings Place -one of the more prominent contemporary music venues and cultural hubs in London. Alongside their cultural programme, their spaces, including 2 theatre halls, rehearsal & studio hire and galley space are in demand for day events and conferences. They are co-tenants, alongside the Guardian Group and are in early stages of developing their sustainability/Net Zero programme. The Kings Place building is managed by Savills Estate Services.

The design accommodates the difference in scale in the local landscape by breaking the building down into three basic components: a smaller-scale block on Battlebridge basin and the rotunda on the north-east corner are connected to a long rectangular block facing York Way.

Designed by Dixon Jones (National Gallery, Royal Opera House, Said Business School), Kings Place has a high BREEAM rating, generating about half the CO2 emissions of a similar size office building. Other design features include:

  • The use of displacement ventilation, combined with high levels of fresh air, enables the building to meet the internal environmental requirements for extended periods of the year without the need of cooling
  • The use of high-efficiency lighting and the provision of daylight controls
  • Increased standards of thermal insulation will reduce heat loss through the fabric of the building
  • A rooftop solar PV array and area of installed ‘green’ roof to enhance the ecology of the scheme and to encourage bird and invertebrate species
