About : Theme

Taking stock of the present, culturally, socially, economically and environmentally speaking, our eyes are often firmly fixed on the future, towards making it more sustainable.

However, to improve on our future calls for action starting today. Today, we can already start to make a difference to improve our relation not only to the environment, but also to each other, with an eye towards reducing inequality, redistributing wealth, increasing diversity and reducing racism and xenophobia. To do this successfully and responsibly, we hold ourselves, communities, universities and corporations accountable along the way.

Furthermore, we cannot leave the past unattended, how it influences the present, and helps or hinders shaping the future. For the past not only refers to wrongs that call for restorative justice today, for instance, it also does not exist independently from our relationship to it, which can be troubled.

ISSR themes (Environment; Innovation in Methods and Data Analytics; Social Justice and Social Change; Governance, Policy and Regulation; Health and Wellbeing) and an additional panel for inclusivity- Open Panel.

Call details and programme can be found here. Deadline for submissions is Wed 12 May.

When the full line up of speakers is final, panel listings will be circulated asking you to choose two panels to attend. Panels are scheduled at 1010 - 1110 hours and 1120-1220 hours.
