Issue-based work and the gallery: Autonomy? Art? Recovery?
Fri 24 March 2017, 13:15 – 14:15 GMT
Part of The Culture Capital Exchange's 'Inside Out Festival 2017'.
A philosopher, Johan Siebers, an artist, Sutapa Biswas and a curator, Mark Prest, discuss the ins and outs of issue-based work crossing into the gallery. Is it possible, advisable, desirable or savory? Each have views on, or experiences of, recovery from addiction. From fears of contamination to philosophies of utopia, each speaker will have five minutes to present their position and practice, followed by in-depth conversation. The audience will be invited to share their experiences and views. Convened and chaired by visual anthropologist Amanda Ravetz.
