Description

Issues in Macroeconomic Policy - 10 years after The Crash

Lord Skidelsky

Speaker: Lord Skidelsky

Robert Skidelsky discusses macroeconomic policy since the financial crisis and the case for an enlarged investment role for the state in a modern enterprise economy. The crash of 2008 and the long slump that followed exposed the fallacy of “the market knows best”. It is time to redress the argument.

Robert Skidelsky is Emeritus Professor of Political Economy at the University of Warwick. Author of many books and papers including his award winning three volume biography of John Maynard Keynes. He was a founder member of the Social Democratic Party. He was made a life peer in 1991 and now sits on the cross benches in the House of Lords, is very active in the economic reform movement and a prolific writer.

Ian Mason, Principal of the School of Economic Science, chairs.

There will be a voluntary collection to help defray costs.
