Tour Overview: Exploring Manchester's Bridges with IStructE YMH
Manchester, a city where industrial heritage and modern engineering marvels converge. on the 11th September, we will embark on a technical tour of some of Manchester’s most iconic bridges, exploring their history, design, and structural significance.
Our journey begins at Corporation Street footbridge between Selfridges and the Arndale. From there we will be guided through the inner workings of Manchester's greatest bridges by Brian Duguid. We will aim to finish the tour, 8pm at the junction of Medlock Street and Whitworth Street.

About Brian
Brian is Mott MacDonald’s technical lead for bridges in the UK. He acts as a design director on major multi-disciplinary schemes such as HS2, Northern Powerhouse Rail, and the Ordsall Chord, as well as smaller, complex projects. He has been the chair of the Net Zero Bridges Group since 2021, growing the organisation to over 40 member firms. He is an active advocate for decarbonising the work of bridge engineers, designers, and owners.
