Event description

Description

Every 15 minutes, a child will come into care.

Many children entering the care system will have suffered neglect or abuse, all will experience trauma and loss. Each child deserves a home where they will be loved, nurtured and enabled to thrive, whether that’s through short-term foster care, a long-term foster placement, or with a new adoptive family.

Each year, 9,000 young people in England, age out of the care system. Their experience of being in care makeup:

  • 25% of the homeless population
  • 49% of men under 21 is in contact with the criminal justice system
  • 3x more likely to be NEET (not in education, employment or training)
  • 4x more likely to experience mental health difficulties
  • 7x more likely to have a problem with substance misuse.

Question; "what is our response?"
