EU Code Week - Coding, Computing & Computational Thinking in the NI Curriculum
As part of EU Code Week we will hold an exciting, practical, hands on session for teachers who are interested in delivering coding and programming activities throughout the curriculum in the classroom. Developing and progressing upon the corresponding session last year, attendees will look at:
-linking coding with outcomes from the NI curriculum.
-fostering innovation with coding and Game Design on iPad.
-inspiring curiosity, creativity, computing and invention with the Sphero SPRK+, Jumping Sumo and Mini-drones.
-Know how to plan and deliver innovative coding activities in Game Design using iPad connecting to outcomes and themes from the Northern Ireland Curriculum.
-Understand the concept of computational thinking and how it can be embedded in activities within the curriculum.
-Develop hands on, innovative and fun computing activities with superb devices such as the SPRK+, Jumping Sumo and the Mini-drones - be prepared to take part in cutting edge afternoon sessions with these!
Course duration 10am-3pm.
Max participants: 60.
Essential Apps: Latest versions of Swift Playgrounds, Bugs and Buttons, Scratch Jr, Lego Fix the Factory, Kodable, The Foos, Pyonkee, Hopscotch, Tynker, Tickle, Lightning Lab.
A fully charged iPad with up to date iOS software.
Knowledge of school Apple ID and password.
