It’s a Beautiful Day – Give to Gain: Where HerStory Heals and Hope Begins
Overview
🌺 Morning Session: Healing Through Truth & Safe Community
Theme: “Our Stories, Our Strength”
This International Women’s Day, we honour the strength, resilience and brilliance of Black and Brown women across the diaspora with a day intentionally designed for healing, connection, awareness and restoration. The morning provides a culturally-informed, trauma-sensitive space where stories can be shared, voices uplifted, and awareness deepened.
Opening Grounding Circle
A gentle, trauma-informed welcome led by AprilDawn, a trauma-informed educator and culturally competent facilitator. Together we establish safety, confidentiality and community agreements to hold the day with care.
🟣 Survivor Storytelling Space
We pass the mic to guest survivor speakers who feel ready to share their journeys — from pain, to healing, to thriving. Their HerStories illuminate truth, inspire hope and anchor the purpose of our gathering.
🟣 Professional Awareness Panel
Local and national experts will speak on:
- Domestic abuse within Black and Brown communities
- Barriers to seeking support
- Specialist services for diaspora women
- Pathways to safety, healing and continued support
A Q&A offers space to learn, ask questions and deepen collective understanding.
🟣 Resource & Advocacy Hub
Information tables and one-to-one support from:
- Domestic abuse organisations
- Mental health services
- Culturally tailored support networks
- Legal and housing advisers
A quiet, supportive space remains available throughout the day.
✨ Afternoon Session: Wellbeing, Restoration & Reconnection
Theme: “Reclaiming Rest, Reclaiming Self”
The afternoon shifts into gentle restoration. We nurture mind, body and spirit through relaxing, empowering wellbeing activities led by guest healers. Expect an eclectic mix of grounding practices, movement, meditation and reflective exercises designed to support you on your wellbeing journey.
A space to rest, reconnect, breathe and rise — together.
