Event description

Description

This is a one-day experiential workshop and an opportunity to explore working with shame in counselling and psychotherapy. Shame is a word that evokes strong and a powerful emotions in us all and for good reason, as it is the fabric of society. It has both positive and negative connotations and toxic shame can have a lasting effect on a person’s life long after the initial event.

The basis of this workshop is to get people talking about shame in a safe and confidential place. There is a PowerPoint presentation, which forms a small part of the workshop and two experiential group exercises. As this is an experiential workshop, you will be invited to explore feelings around shame whilst being mindful about self-care.

The emphasis throughout the day is about self-care and avoiding over-exposure or re-shaming.

Who is it for: Counsellors and Psychotherapists, interested in how shame can affect our lives and hopefully, to gain insight and a greater understanding of how to work with a shame prone client.
