Event description
Fellow Interintellect Bryan Kam explores complexity - and our strategies for making sense of it

About this Event

"You’re a single individual. And yet you’re composed of organs, which depend in turn on trillions of cells. You have an even greater number of connections among the neurons in your brain. At the same time, you live within a complex network of relationships with your family, friends, society, nation, and the wider world.

In what ways is the relationship of a neuron to a brain like your relationship to your community? Like an atom to a molecule? Like an organism to its ecosystem? Or like a single computer to the internet?

This salon will introduce complexity theory, which examines these patterns across many disciplines. It introduces a set of concepts to characterise and to understand these interdependent systems and outcomes." - Salon host Bryan Kam
