ITT

Our School Direct ITT programme is a unique opportunity to work as a member of a school team and learn about teaching from dedicated, experienced professionals in schools. It is also underpinned and supported by a culture of coaching and mentoring. All trainee teachers observe outstanding teaching and get to work alongside the best practitioners.


Introduction to action research
FOR: TRAINEES
Wednesday 11th September 2019, 2pm-3pm
INTENT: A session to explore with trainees why L.E.A.D. value action research and to discuss the overarching line of enquiry for the initial teacher training year.

Safeguarding training
FOR: TRAINEES
Wednesday 2nd October 2019, 9.15am-2.30pm
INTENT: A session to ensure that all trainees understand how to keep children safe in education.

How to start the year in a LEAD school
FOR: TRAINEES AND MENTORS
25th September 2019, 2-4pm / 4-5pm Mentor Training
INTENT: A collaborative session that allows trainees to share their ‘noticings’ in how each L.E.A.D. school has effectively started their academic year. This session is an opportunity to explore teaching and learning. There will be an opportunity for both trainees and mentors to observe practice and unpick what makes effective teaching and learning.

Pre emption
FOR: TRAINEES AND MENTORS
Wednesday 20th November 2019, 2pm-4pm / 4pm-4.30pm Mentor Training
INTENT: This session enables trainees to take their intial steps into effective behaviour management. The session explores how to pre-empt situations and then take steps in planning and lesson delivery that will enable effective teaching and learning to take place.

Conflict Resolution
FOR: TRAINEES AND MENTORS
Wednesday 22nd January 2020, 2pm-4pm / 4pm-4.30pm Mentor Training
INTENT: This session follows on from pre- emption and is designed to support trainees to develop a bank of strategies for how to resolve conflict effectively. The session convers resolving and diffusing conflict with both children and parents.

Communication and Language - an introduction to oracy
FOR: TRAINEES AND MENTORS
Wednesday 11th March 2020, 2pm-4pm / 4pm-4.30pm Mentor Training
INTENT: This session is delivered by our National Leader of Oracy and is an introduction into how to plan lesson delivery to enable children opportunities to develop their oracy skills. This session will give the trainees practical strategies and resources.

Parent and Community Engagement
FOR: TRAINEES AND MENTORS
Wednesday 20th May 2020, 2-4pm / 4-4.30pm Mentor meeting
INTENT: A chance for our trainees to think and reflect into how to build relationships with parents and the community. This session will provide the opportunity for trainees to hear from parents about how teachers make effective partnerships with them & what matters to them.

INTENT: In this session trainees will explore how to develop resilience and well- being in the profession and what that means to them and to L.E.A.D.

INTENT: Trainees share their research with one another and with their mentors and headteachers/ coordinators.

FOR: TRAINEES, HEADS, MENTORS AND COORDINATORS FOR NEXT COHORT
Wednesday 15th July 2020, 3pm-4pm
INTENT: Trainees and mentors and headteachers get to meet one another. An opportunity for the cohort of 2020/2021 to meet previous year ITT trainee. There is also a university presence at this session to explain the partnership between school and university.
