MEMBERS MEETING SPEAKER 1: Luc Bas
Luc Bas is the Director of the IUCN European Regional Office in Brussels. He will be presenting the IUCN Regional Programme 2017-2020 and the role of the UK in it, with an open discussion on the potential implications of 'Brexit' for biodiversity conservation.
MEMBERS MEETING SPEAKER 2: Daniel Raven-Ellison
What if London becomes a National Park City?
Following up on relevant resolutions at the World Conservation Congress and as a contribution to IUCN's developing interest in the urban agenda, Daniel Raven-Ellison from the London National Park City Foundation will give an update on the campaign to make London the world's first National Park City. He will outline the thinking behind the campaign, explain some of the benefits of the National Park City model and describe how members can get involved.
Daniel will be introduced by Stuart Brooks, Chair of NCUK and participant in IUCN's recent discussions on 'World Environment Hubs', a framework for evaluating and certifying cities and regions which place environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and ecosystem services at the heart of urban and regional development strategies.
