International Volunteering Opportunities for All (IVO4all) National Event
It is with great pleasure to announce VSO will be hosting an expert seminar on Wednesday 29 March 2017 at Central Hall Westminster (London, England, United Kingdom) from 9am – 2pm.
This promises to be an exciting event bringing together key youth sector practitioners and international volunteering organisations with the common goal of making international volunteering opportunities more inclusive for young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
What to expect at the IVO4all National Event?
Young volunteers and professionals will be sharing their experiences to inspire, inform and set the scene.
Specialist workshops to explore solutions to create fairer opportunities for young people.
Resources will be presented that can be used to engage and provide quality support to young people.
Launch of IVO4all report with key recommendations for policy makers and practitioners across Europe.
The day will include an opportunity for networking over lunch which will be provided.
What is the IVO4all Project?
As part of the International Citizen Service (ICS) Programme’s commitment to inclusive volunteering, ICS has been the UK lead for delivering the International Volunteering Opportunities for All (IVO4all) Project. The project aims to develop policy, practice and partnerships across all European Union member states to ensure international volunteering is inclusive and accessible to young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
Over 2016, International Service, Raleigh International, VSO and Y Care International came together to pilot specific interventions, to better engage and support young people from these groups to access international volunteering opportunities.
John Loughton (Chair)
The event will be chaired by John Loughton who is a well-known political campaigner, youth leader, motivational speaker. John is the founder and CEO of Dare2Lead, a social enterprise dedicated to unlocking the leadership potential of people, organisations and communities and was named JCI Outstanding Youth of the World 2013. He has worked in over 35 countries where he has directly engaged with influencers including The Queen, UN Secretary General, President of European Parliament and numerous Ambassadors, entrepreneurs and world Heads of State.
