A story with jokes from London-based Jewish comedian Ivor Dembina who spent time as a peace worker on the West Bank during the second intifada. This is Not a Subject for Comedy uses Jewish humour to tell the story of how one north London Jew came to change his views on the Middle East conflict when he witnessed first-hand the Israeli occupation.

After the performance (60 minutes), Ivor Dembina will take part in a panel discussion about the issues raised in the piece.

Before the show, Ben Yeger will be facilitating a three hour workshop exploring our personal narratives in response to the Israel/Palestine situation. We all have opinions, responses, wishes and probably a few blind spots in relation to this complex narrative, so if your're interested in checking all these out in the presence and with the support of others then this workshop is for you. Ivor will be taking part in the workshop and it will be active and participative so please come ready to take part. Ben will also be part of the after show panel.

In 2017 the Oxford Human Rights Film Festival will be celebrating its 15th year. Founded in 2003, the festival is an initiative of post graduate students on the Oxford Brookes MA course in Development and Emergency Practice and now involves students from across the University including Film Studies, Business & Marketing and International Relations.
In attracting diverse audiences to each of our events, the aim of the festival is to raise awareness about a range of human rights concerns among students and the wider Oxford community.
The festival involves a wide variety of events including film, music, performance and art.
